Description:
WWI Volunteer Nurse's hospital uniform (every day wear). Royal Army Medical Corps. Worn by Anna Oram who was Public Health Nurse in Welland for several years.
a) Blue cotton jacket with 2 rows of brass buttons down front. Buttons have medical crest with snake on them. Inside of waist are 3 hooks to fasten to skirt. Short flared waist which fits over skirt. Pleated at top of waist and fastens with 2 hook and eyes. Small thermometer pocket at right breast. 2 square and one round brass button on either shoulder.
b) Blue cotton skirt with 2 seams down front and back. Looks like 2 pockets at front, sideways, but one fastens with one snap and other opens with 6 snaps and 2 hooks. At back are 3 eyes to fasten to jacket.
