Coin, Anniversary dollar opening Welland Canal 1829 — 1978. Silver in colour, on the front there is a picture of a ship going through the Welland Canal under the Main Street Bridge. The back of the coin has "The Rose City" and the Welland coat of arms. Underneath it states, "Value one dollar in Welland expires Sept. 17,1978. Diameter is 3cm.
