Compass

Large compass in a wooden box. Lid closes with a hook on either side of the box. Compass is circular, brass painted black, white and black directions inside, which float in water. Has a copper lamp attached to the back, so it can be seen. "Richie Boston USA." Patent dates around the edge range in the 1860s and 1870s.

Used by Mr. R. Bampton's father on tug boat on the Welland Canal.
