Description:
001— Pocketwatch — Round, gold plated. Etched detailing on the back and the front. White face with roman numerals. "American Watch Co." Has a smaller section underneath to keep track of seconds. Both sides of the watch open. One side reveals the watch face, the other side reveals the hole into which the key is inserted for winding. The glass covering the face can also be open, so that the hands can be moved to the correct time. Each side has a maker's mark and the number "2812."
002— Small key to wind the watch.
003— Watch chain. Consists of chain links and longer, etched pieces.
Note: Still in perfect working order, still keeps time.
This pocketwatch once belonged to Billy Beecher of Dunnvile, Ont., who was a ship's captain on the Welland Canal. His wife Etta, also of Dunnville, was a ship's cook on the Canal.
