About
The mandate of the Welland Museum is to engage and inspire people of all ages regarding the unique stories of Welland and the Niagara Region.
Through collections, exhibitions, and programming the Museum will grow with the community, providing a source of knowledge and innovation for present and future generations.
Board of Directors
Rachael Haynes
Chair
Rachael Haynes is an educator with 12 years of experience in a number of diverse school boards. With a background in education and the arts, she believes that arts, cultural education and activities can help build mutual respect and awareness about the diverse populations in our community. She has previously worked with organizations such as the Niagara Symphony Orchestra, AgScape, and Brock University to implement quality programming that supports children and adult educators in safe and welcoming environments. She currently serves on the Darlene Ryan Port Robinson Community Centre management board and Friends of the Richmond Street Forest.
Rose Dzugan
Vice Chair
Rose was born and raised in Welland. Rose is an RN with a diverse nursing, management and consultation background, working in Canada, Australia, United States, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Haiti.
She has been on the Council of Nurses of Ontario and the Niagara Health Advisory Committees. She has been published in several nursing journals.
Rose has been on the Museum Board since 2017. She is also involved in municipal committees, including Welland Heritage and Seniors Advisory.
Kiron Bondale
Secretary & Treasurer
Kiron Bondale is a semi-retired mentor and project management trainer. He has published almost a thousand articles, has presented virtually and in person at hundreds of events and has published a book on project leadership in 2021. He has earned multiple project management certifications and completed an MBA from McGill University and a Bachelors degree in Computer Science from Concordia University. Apart from his work on the Board of the Museum, he volunteers regularly at the Open Arms Mission in Welland.
Wayne Campbell
Director
Wayne Campbell is a retired journalist living in Welland. For over 40 years as a reporter, city editor, managing editor and columnist, he worked on daily and community newspapers in Ontario and British Columbia. The adventure included experience in Dunnville, Welland, Pelham, Guelph, Cambridge, Simcoe, Nanaimo, B.C. and Penticton, B.C.
Born and raised in Welland, Wayne attended Notre Dame College School. He went on to earn a B.A. in History from the University of Western Ontario.
As a volunteer, Wayne has served on boards advising Crime Stoppers, community festivals and historical projects.
Now, as a Welland museum director, he encourages the community to help us tell the stories of our past, present and future.
Alyssia Collard
Director
Alyssia Collard is a student at Brock University studying English Language and Literature. She has an interest in learning about and preserving local history, as well as raising awareness for Indigenous issues.
Adam Godo
Director
Adam Godo is an archaeologist with experience conducting fieldwork in Spain, Greece, Israel, and Germany. He received an Honours BA with a specialisation in Classical Studies from the University of Ottawa, and a Masters of Science in Early Prehistory and Human Origins from the University of York in England. Adam lived in Germany and England between 2018 and 2022, during which time he learned German and completed his Master’s degree. He currently works as a commercial archaeologist here in Niagara, and sits on the City of Welland Heritage Advisory Committee and the Central Station Education Initiative Board of Directors.

Theresa Johnson
Director
Theresa retired in 2018 with 32 years of service with Canada Revenue Agency. She held various positions over the years and most of them involved the interpretation and application of federal legislation to transactions by businesses of every size across Canada. Theresa’s volunteer activities included being a Girl Guide leader as well as treasurer for the group; coaching soccer for eight years; treasurer for the union local; leader for United Way drive in the Hamilton Region of CRA; and being treasurer as well as president of the school council for Ecole LaMarsh. Over the many years of life she primarily enjoys being alive and healthy.
James Takeo
Director
James is downtown business owner and tattoo and visual artist. He is Chair of the municipal Arts and Culture Advisory Committee, and the Green Advisory Committee, Vice Chair of Active Transportation Advisory Committee, and also serves on the board for the Welland Downtown BIA.

The Museum is free to visit but donations are always appreciated! The suggested donation for visiting the Museum is $3.00 per person.
Land Acknowledgment
Welland is situated on treaty land. This land is steeped in the rich history of the First Nations such as the Haudenosaunee and the Anishinaabe, including the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. There are many First Nations, Metis, and Inuit people from across Turtle Island that live and work in Welland today. Welland stands with all Indigenous people, past and present, in promoting the wise stewardship of the lands on which we live.
